The Malta Ballet Company, Inc.

The Malta Ballet company, Inc. (MBC) is a not-for-profit organization founded by Ginger Somogie Morris in 1994. The MBC is dedicated to giving young dancers the finest dance training and an awareness of the performing arts. The Company performs original ballets choreographed to entertain audiences of all ages. The MBC performs for schools and charitable events. The MBC has been performing their rendition of “The Nutcracker” at The Empire Center at The Egg since 1994. We have been privileged to perform with New York City Ballet Principal Dancers Jock Soto, Wendy Whalen, Lourdes Lopez,Philip Neal and Amar Ramasar. Also New York City Ballet Soloist Dancers Kathleen Tracey, Rachel Rutherford and Rebecca Krohn, American Ballet Theatre's David Hallberg. The Company is funded through local sponsors and grants. All dancers are chosen from open auditions. Those desiring to audition for the MBC may register by calling (518)899-3339


The Malta Ballet Company, Inc. (MBC) will be holding auditions for their annual “Nutcracker” performance to be performed at the Egg on December 2, 2011 and December 3, 2011 . Auditions 2011 Season. 11:00 a.m. for dancers ages 6-11 years, 1:00 p.m. for dancers ages 12 to adult, 2:00 p.m. for Clara (must be 11 years or older with at least five years of ballet experience), 2:45 p.m. for soloists (must be 13 or older with at least six years of ballet experience) and 4:00 p.m. for singers, gymnasts, and tap dancers. Children ages 6-11 years old may audition for the following parts: clowns, mice, angels, reindeer, snowflakes and party scene. Dancers age 12 years old to adult, with at least 4 years of dance experience, may audition for the party scene, snowflakes, and waltz of the flowers (dancers must be on pointe). Gymnastics and tap dancers are needed for the battle scene. Adults and boys are needed for the party scene, no experience necessary. NO ONE WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR A PART IF THEY CANNOT ATTEND AUDITION DATE (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF RETURNING ADULTS IN THE PARTY SCENE) . All dancers who are chosen to be members must continue to take dance technique classes. Rehearsals are not considered a dance class. Auditions will be held at the home of the MBC located in the studio of Ginger's Dance To Fit. Audition fee - $10.00.

December Nutcracker

The Malta Ballet Company (MBC) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating young children as well as adults in the arts. The MBC comes alive on stage in their 18 th season of “The Nutcraker” at the Empire Center at The Egg. On Saturday December 3rd The MBC will feature special guests REBECCA KROHN, Soloist from the New York City Ballet Company, as the Sugar Plum Fairy and her cavalier AMAR RAMARSAR, Principal dancer also from NYCB.

Come see our magical holiday classic loved by both young and old. Area youth will delight you with their wide array of talents and grandiose costumes all bright and new. You will marvel over gymnasts who magically come alive as dolls and rats, and soldiers who tap dance with spectacular sounds. The Choir will sing joyous songs of the holiday season. Don't miss Joseph the magician as he mystifies you with his magic. Then watch the Silberhaus's tree grow before your very eyes and get ready to enter a world full of adventure and whimsy. You will witness ballerinas so eloquent, they will entice snowflakes to fall from the sky and angels with wings and candlelight will fly! Enter the land of sweets to watch delicacies from around the world come alive to excite and entertain you. Watch MBC's exclusive dances from Ireland , Poland , Hungary , and Scotland , along with the traditional dances of Spain , Russia , the Netherlands , China and Arabia . And before this magical dream is over you will observe the great George Balanchine's original variations of the graceful Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.
