Dance Curriculum:
Placement for the following classes is based on the child's age at the beginning of the year. If a student is close to the maximum age range for the class, please discuss this with one of our instructors. We can help determine the best placement for your child. Fun For Tots (2 ½ - 3 ½ years, 45 minute class) – A creative approach to pre-ballet, exercise, tumbling that creates the opportunity to explore the basic elements of movement, rhythm and music. We design our program to help strengthen and coordinate muscles in very young children. Kinderdance (3 ½ - 4 ½ yrs, 45 minute class) – Introduction to ballet and tap movements. Focusing on coordination and dance movements relating to characters and animals instead of defined dance terms. Ballet/Tap I & II (4 ½ - 6 ½ yrs, 1 hour class) - Basic fundamentals are begun. Strengthing and development of muscle tissue is of great importance as this time for correct body placement. Expression, creativity, and imagination are encouraged as students become familiar with music, develop flexibility and coordination, and, most of all, experience the joy of dance. Placement for the following courses is based primarily on a student's prior training. Please note that some divisions require multiple classes to be taken in order to be accepted into the division level. Further, some of the classes have specific restrictions and requirements that must be strictly adhered to in order to maintain balance within classes. Advancement of students is done at the discretion of the teacher. Classes are structured on a graded syllabus and students will be considered for advancement once they have passed each level within the grading system.
